On Friday, February 7, 2025, Center Township Elementary School marked a special milestone—the 1,000th day of school for our fifth graders.
To commemorate the occasion, the students wrote letters to their future selves in 11th grade, when they will reach another 1,000-day milestone. Reflecting on all they have learned since kindergarten. Each year I like to remind our families of our Winter Weather Plan.
I make the decision to delay or cancel school after I review the weather forecast and consult with our Transportation Department. When necessary, the district also consults with the municipalities and other resources within our community. Each decision regarding whether or not to delay or cancel school is made with student safety as the primary concern. I recognize that any delay or cancellation can create hardships for our families and do not take this decision lightly.

I regret to inform you that we are canceling school today, Thursday, September 12, 2024. As you are aware from our communication yesterday, we initially received a vague threat targeting our secondary schools. After receiving reports from parents and students about additional threats, we determined that these mirrored threats made to other districts in the region, which were deemed not credible. Unfortunately, overnight we have received further threats.
The 2024-2025 school year will be filled with many exciting opportunities for the students in our school district. I'm excited to share more in our annual "Welcome Back" publication. Click here or click on the image below to read it.
