Each year I like to remind our families of our Winter Weather Plan. 

I make the decision to delay or cancel school after I review the weather forecast and consult with our Transportation Department. When necessary, the district also consults with the municipalities and other resources within our community. Each decision regarding whether or not to delay or cancel school is made with student safety as the primary concern. I recognize that any delay or cancellation can create hardships for our families and do not take this decision lightly.

Center Township Elementary School students recently had the opportunity to experience the Forward BMX Show—a high-energy assembly packed with stunts, flips, and nonstop excitement on two wheels.

Center Township Elementary School kicked off the school year with its annual SOAR Tour, where classes visited key areas of the building to learn and practice what Safety, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect/Responsibility look and sound like in each space. To encourage positive choices, staff rewarded students “caught SOARing” with green tickets—each one a chance to win a special prize.

The Butler Education Association is hosting their annual food drive in support of the Kids' Weekend Backpack Program.

Please consider bringing a food item to the Butler Golden Tornado football game on Friday, October 17. You can also donate needed items directly from Amazon. Click here to donate. 

The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc. Tuff Tornado Run was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this event!

Save the date! The Annual Orchestra Spooktacular returns Thursday, October 23rd at Butler Intermediate High School!

•  6:00 PM – Trick-or-treat through our Haunted Hallway
•  7:00 PM – The Butler Senior High Orchestra performs spooky favorites in the auditorium

We hope you'll take some time to read our annual "Back to School" publication to learn more about the exciting opportunities for learning, growth and connection at Butler Area School District this year.

Summer is still in full swing, but if you are looking ahead to the first day of school, here are a few things you can do now to be prepared!

Butler Area School District is committed to transforming teaching and learning through a personalized learning approach. Our ongoing efforts include professional development opportunities, the design of a new teacher evaluation system aligned with personalized learning practices, strategic investments in instructional materials that support individualized instruction, and the purchase of flexible furniture to accommodate diverse seating arrangements, particularly at the secondary level. Much of this work has been made possible through generous grant funding.

The Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation, Inc.'s 21st annual Fine Arts & Beyond (FAB) Showcase was a great success. The student artwork was incredible and the student musical performances were outstanding. Thank you to everyone who helped make the event a success!
